Thank you to Holy Cross Lutheran Church

Washington Elementary would like to thank Holy Cross Lutheran Church for their continuous support for the last three years.  Holy Cross has been a great partner providing volunteers on a regular basis and on special occasions.  Once volunteers became attached to our school, they don’t only serve as mentors but they help meet other student needs.  Our soccer program was in need of equipment and Holy Cross Lutheran volunteers stepped up to help.

In addition, Holy Cross has been involved with many special projects over the years that greatly benefit our families.  At the beginning of the year, they provided backpacks full of school supplies for a 4th grade classroom. In the fall, they organized a coat drive to provide coats for Washington students/families and the community.  During the holidays, they collected and donated food boxes for needy families.  In addition, they sponsored 5-10 families with Christmas gifts for the entire family.   At the end of the school year, they do a clothing exchange for our families to exchange clothes or other household items no longer needed

Holy Cross has been a great resource to provide many items and services that help our students and families on behalf of all our families, thank you for your acts of kindness.   It’s nice to know that Holy Cross Church helps us meet the needs of Washington’s neighborhood.

THANK YOU TO OUTWARD CHURCH

Washington Elementary would like to thank Outward Church for their special service project to our families in need.  Outward church contacted us regarding donating food for our families in need during thanksgiving.  We referred 40 families (more than 200 people).  Outward church not only provided the food, they cooked the food and delivered it while it was still warm to our families.  In addition, they delivered a Christmas tree including ornaments, lights and other decorations and students received 1 or 2 gifts to put under the Christmas tree.

A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions.  For many of our families, it was the first time they had a Thanksgiving meal or the only food they had on their table (stated by one family). For others, this is their first Christmas tree.   Families who may not be able to buy gifts for their children, now have gifts under the tree.

On behalf of all our families, thank you Outward Church for your acts of kindness.   It’s nice to know that our community really tries to help those that are in most need.
